Hallmarks of Fall – 4 Fall Festivities To Enjoy When You Visit Columbia

We love the autumn season at USC! So, we wanted to share four of our favorite Columbia fall festivities!

It’s finally autumn in South Carolina and while Columbia’s famously hot weather may trick you into believing otherwise, fall is in full swing around USC. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite fall hallmarks in Columbia that any visitor will enjoy. Check out these four fall festivities:

1. Gamecock Football

There’s no better way to spend a fall weekend in South Carolina than at a Carolina football game! Gamecock fans flock from all over to pack Williams-Brice Stadium and cheer on South Carolina’s favorite football team (😉). Come on out, eat some of your favorite tailgate dishes and get ready to get rowdy cheering on the Gamecocks!

2. Soda City

Everybody in Columbia knows and loves the Soda City Market! Every Saturday morning, Main Street transforms into blocks full of local vendors and food trucks featuring their best creations. Soda City is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat, pet a bunch of puppies (seriously, they’re everywhere!!) and enjoy a beautiful, breezy day.

3. South Carolina State Fair

The Fairgrounds by Williams-Brice Stadium is a great place to spend a Saturday prepping for Gamecock football, but for 12 days each October, it’s completely transformed to host the annual South Carolina State Fair! From the Ferris wheel to arts and crafts to every fair food you can imagine, there’s something fun for everyone. Our current students especially enjoy the fair since they can get in for free during USC night!

4. Clinton Sease Farm

If you’re looking for an aesthetically pleasing fall photo for your Instagram, Clinton Sease Farm in Lexington has you covered! Be sure to check out the beautiful sunflower fields, go for a hayride through the pumpkin patch and test your skills in the corn maze! And if you’re feeling spooky, you can even check out their haunted house, Deceased Farms, just next door.

Columbia certainly has no shortage of fun activities to celebrate fall with. Come visit USC and join in on all the autumn fun!
