Visit Guide Series: The Foodie

From the best local food joints to beautiful sunset views, there's always an adventure waiting for you in our city. We've complied a list of some of our favorite spots for you to check out when you visit Columbia, South Carolina.

You can’t visit the University of South Carolina without visiting the city that we call home. Our city is made for exploration. From delicious food to invigorating activities in a city that inspires, Columbia, South Carolina has something for everyone.

 

While we could make an entire list of noteworthy places to visit when you come to Columbia, we’ve made it a little easier for you. This one is for our three-course meal lovin’ Gamecocks. Here is a list of things to do and see when you visit.


Food

Columbia Food Tours LLC

If you’re a foodie, this is what you’ve been waiting for! Columbia Food Tours, LLC is your opportunity to try different local food favorites during a three-hour tour. Guests visit five to seven of Columbia’s best locally-owned restaurants, try delicious food and learn about our Capital City. Tickets are available for purchase at www.columbiafoodtours.com.


Campus Spot

Russell House

Russell House is the Grand Central Station of UofSC and your go-to for all things food. From Chick-Fil-A and Panera to twisted tacos, they have delicious food options for every meal. Of course, they offer tons of healthy, vegan and gluten-free options!

Recreational

Appetizer Hop

Columbia, South Carolina is known for having great food and restaurants. Can’t decide where to eat? Don’t choose –  try multiple places! Main Street In Columbia has plenty of options in close proximity. Walk from restaurant to restaurant trying different local appetizers and then rate your favorite!

Feast at Food Trucks

Just like app hopping, food truck hopping is a great way to try a variety of southern foods and local favorites. The best place to do this is Soda City Market! From Belgian waffles to international cuisines, the food here is spectacular.


Shops

Gourmet Shop

The Gourmet shop is a hot spot for locals and visitors! It’s locally owned and seconds as a brunch spot. They sell a variety of cookware, cooking utensils, tableware and pantry essentials. It’s the perfect place to buy a gift for your favorite foodie!


Free Options

Soda City Market

Soda City Market is the perfect weekend activity. Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Main Street turns into a local market. From vendors selling a variety of items to some of Columbia’s best food trucks, this is a great way to support local businesses and to enjoy the Columbia community. Be sure to buy some fresh veggies or baked goods while you’re there!


Accommodation 

Graduate Columbia Hotel
