Waitlist FAQs
-
USC received a record number of freshman applications for admission this year. With far more qualified applicants than available spaces, we were unable to admit every strong candidate. Your placement on the waitlist reflects our confidence in your abilities and your potential to be successful at USC should space become available.
-
Submit the Waitlist Response Form on your USC Admissions Portal by May 1 to accept your spot on the waitlist.
-
All students who submit the Waitlist Response Form on their USC Admissions Portal by May 1 will receive full consideration. The waitlist is not ranked, and the timing of your form submission does not influence your position. As space becomes available, we will admit students from the waitlist based on academic competitiveness. In some cases, admitted students may receive an offer for their second-choice major if space is no longer available in their first-choice major.
-
We will update your status by mid-May.
-
You are always welcome to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to ask about admission requirements, but we are unable to update your waitlist status until mid-May.
-
Yes! You can select both options on the Waitlist Response Form.
If admitted to USC’s fall freshman class from the waitlist after depositing for the Gamecock Verto Semester, you can choose which path to take. To join the fall freshman class instead of Verto, accept your spot through your USC Admissions Portal. Your Verto deposit will be refunded.
