Student Health Services

LGBTQ Health

All of our health services are for everyone. We're committed to taking each patient's needs into account and making all students feel welcome and comfortable.

Schedule an Appointment

Some appointments must be made over the phone, including those for psychiatry, faculty/staff wellness, nutrition and counseling follow-ups.

Visit Appointments for a full list of appointment numbers.

An Inclusive Environment

We know it can be uncomfortable to receive health care if you do not identify as your birth sex. We want to make all students feel comfortable and welcome when they visit. All of our programs and services are open to all students.

Questions and Referrals
Call 803-777-0564 to talk to the care team nurse about your health care or your treatment options, including hormone treatment therapy and referrals.

Medical Providers
If you are more comfortable working with a particular health care provider or a provider of a particular gender, let us know when you schedule your appointment.

Confidentiality
All student visits to the Center for Health Well-Being are confidential. Mental and physical health records are completely separate from your other university records.

We will not release your protected health information without written permission except as required by law or to protect you or others from a serious threat to health and safety.

Community-Specific Services

All student health services are available to all students. The services below offer health care options specifically for the LGBTQ+ community.

Our pharmacy is in-network for most major insurance plans and can fill outside prescriptions, including hormone replacement therapy.

You can meet one-on-one with a counselor or psychiatrist, or join a support group specifically designed for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Call 803-777-5223 to make an appointment or get details.

We understand members of the LGBTQ+ community face unique nutrition challenges. To make an appointment with our Safe Zone certified nutritionists, call 803-777-8283.

We will work with you to make sure your visit for gynecological care is as comfortable as possible. If you need to ask a question or discuss accommodations, you can send a message to our nursing staff via MyHealthSpace  or call the head nurse at 803-777-3840.

Names and Pronouns

We want to make sure you are identified correctly when you come in for a visit.

Changing Your Name or Pronoun on Your Medical Records
You can change your name and pronouns in the profile section of MyHealthSpace or by calling 803-777-8283.

Non-Medical University Records
As a default, we use the information provided by the University Registrar for your name and gender. Changing your name and pronoun with us will only affect your medical records. We keep separate records from the rest of the university system, so the change won't affect your other university records.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
