The Office of Government and Community Relations is a conduit between the university
and state governance bodies, including the Governor’s office and the General Assembly,
and the local community.
Focused on the Needs of South Carolina
The office connects the university system, elected representatives, and various stakeholders
statewide, helping to align the university’s strategic objectives with the needs of
South Carolina. In addition, the office:
Provides counsel to university leadership on matters of public policy, fiscal planning,
legislative initiatives, and other pivotal issues impacting the institution, higher
education, and the broader state landscape.
Advocates on behalf of the USC system, forging relationships with state policymakers
and key stakeholders at both local and statewide levels.
Works closely with state entities such as the Department of Administration’s Executive
Budget Office, the State Fiscal Accountability Authority, the Joint Bond Review Committee,
and the SC Commission on Higher Education.
