Erin Haire serves as the Associate Director for Community Engagement in the Office of Access and Opportunity. Her knowledge and experience with community engagement is informed by her years of advocacy on behalf of vulnerable adults and children in the Southeast.
Ms. Haire holds a BA in Philosophy and Creative Writing from Clemson and an MA in Philosophy from the University of Tennessee. In 2018 she earned her JD from Georgia State University College of Law with Pro Bono Distinction and a certificate in Public Interest Law and Public Policy. While in law school, she worked with survivors of intimate partner violence and joined the Olmstead Clinic with the Disability Integration Team at Atlanta Legal Aid. During her time at Legal Aid, Ms. Haire worked primarily with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities who were seeking services from the state.
After returning to South Carolina, Ms. Haire joined the team at Disability Rights South Carolina where she ran the voting program and the organization’s outreach efforts. Before coming to IMPH, she worked for the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) where she coordinated the National Coalition on Accessible Voting and led NDRN’s participation in coalition-based voting efforts. From there she moved to the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health where she led reporting and education efforts on public health policy in the state.
