University 101 Programs

Peer and Graduate Leader Workshops and Training

Peer Leader Orientation and Training Workshop:  These workshops offer University 101 Peer Leaders the opportunity to explore their important team-teaching role within the University 101 classroom. First-year issues are explored as well as instruction on developing a cohesive community for their students. These workshops are required for all undergraduate students accepted to participate in the University 101 Peer Leader Program.

  • Spring Orientation session, held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 1:00-5:00pm.
  • Fall Training, held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 1:00-5:00pm.
  • Enroll in a section of EDLP 520 in fall 2014. This three-hour credit course meets once per week for an hour and fifteen minutes. The EDLP 520 course offerings will be announced in early spring 2014.

An additional training workshop will be scheduled for all study abroad students in August 2014.

Graduate Leader Training Workshop: All University 101 Graduate Leaders are required to complete a University 101 Graduate Leader Training workshop. All graduate students seeking to serve as a graduate leader in the fall 2014 semester must attend the training workshop on April 4, 2014 from 9:00am until 5:00pm

Syllabus Preparation and Team - Building Workshops: These workshops provide an opportunity for instructors, peer leaders, and graduate leaders to process the learning outcomes and course requirements and determine effective strategies for achieving the common goals and outcomes for University 101. Attendees begin developing their syllabus while exchanging ideas and resources with other University 101 colleagues. Additionally, these workshops are a time for co - instructors to begin developing teaching relationships and planning for their fall responsibilities.

All peer leaders and graduate leaders must attend one Syllabus Preparation and Team - Building Workshop with their co - instructor. All workshops will be held in Capstone Campus Room.
