Workshops and Training
Training Workshop: This one-day workshop offers the University 101 Peer and Graduate Leaders the opportunity to explore their important team-teaching role within the University 101 classroom. First-year issues are explored as well as instruction on developing a cohesive community for their students. This workshop is required for all undergraduate and graduate students seeking to participate in the University 101 Peer Leader Program.
Peer Leader Workshops: All University 101 peer leaders are required to complete a University 101 Peer Leader Training Workshop. The workshop is offered annually during the spring semester.
- Training will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 11:00am until 4:30pm in the Russell House University Union.
- Arrive at check-in between 10:30am and 11:00am in the third floor lobby. The program will start promptly at 11:00am.
- Bring your completed pairing form.
- Dress for the day is casual.
- Lunch will be provided.

An additional training workshop will be scheduled for all study abroad students in summer 2010.
Graduate Leader Workshops: All University 101 Graduate Leaders are required to complete a University 101 Graduate Leader Training workshop. All graduate students seeking to serve as a graduate leader in the fall 2010 semester must attend the workshop on January 15, 2010.
Team-Building Workshops: These workshops provide an opportunity for instructors, peer leaders, and graduate leaders to process the learning outcomes and course requirements and determine effective strategies for achieving the common goals and outcomes for University 101. Attendees begin developing their syllabus while exchanging ideas and resources with other University 101 colleagues. Additionally, these workshops are a time for co-instructors to begin developing teaching relationships and planning for their fall responsibilities.
All peer leaders and graduate leaders must attend one Team-Building Workshop with their co-instructor. These workshops have been scheduled for April 12, 13, 14, & 16, 2010. |
