Application and Selection Process:

Step 1: Complete Application

Fill out the online application thoroughly with completed essays, information, recommender information, and preferred group interview times.

Step 2: Recommendation Form

Have your recommender complete the online recommendation form.  In your application, you will be asked to provide contact information for the person who will submit a professional recommendation for you.  Your recommender will receive an e-mail with the link and log-in information to access the form once you have submitted your application. Be sure to follow up with your recommender to ensure that your application is completed by the due date indicated below. .

*Please note: Applications must be submitted online. Applications will not be considered complete until both an online application and recommendation form have been received.

Step 3: Interview

All eligible applicants must undergo a group interview process where representatives from the University 101 office, instructors, and peer leaders/ graduate leaders will evaluate applicants’ skills relative to the peer leader position.  Students studying abroad in the spring will be interviewed prior to the end of the fall semester during which they apply and therefore should adhere to the priority deadline indicated below.

Step 4: Training

All selected peer leaders must complete a one-day training workshop to help them prepare for their role in the coming semester and attend a Syllabus Preparation & Team-Building Workshop with their instructor in April.  Please see the selection timeline for more information.  All first-time peer leaders must also enroll in EDLP 520: The Teacher as Manager during the semester in which they are serving. 

*Students who are studying abroad in spring 2012 must apply by this deadline to be considered for the position for fall 2012. Non study abroad students who apply by this deadline and choose to participate in the priority selection/ study abroad interview will be eligible for priority selection; these applicants will receive notification of their selection to the program before the end of the fall 2011 semester.
