Follow-up Activities:
- Journal Prompts: 1.) Tell the story of your name. Where did it come from? Do you like it? Do you wish you knew more about it? 2.) What do you know about people of different nationalities, ethnicities, races, religions, etc.? How can knowing more about other people increase your satisfaction with your education or future occupation?
- Formal Paper Prompts or Assignments: Research a prominent or not-so prominent person of a minority group that contributed in some way to our society.
- Discussion Questions: 1.) What is diversity? 2.) What does diversity encompass? 3.) Is there a difference between race and ethnicity? Gender and Sex? Homosexuality, Cross-dressing and Transgendered individuals? Prejudice and discrimination? 4.) Name three characteristics that make you unique from others. 5.) Name a campus resource where you could learn more about diversity or others from another cultural group.
