The Campus Safety and Security presentation serves to make students aware of safety issues on campus and educate them about the resources available to help them stay safe at USC.;
Learning Outcomes
The Campus Safety presentation supports University 101 learning outcomes:
II. Help Students Discover and Connect with The University of South Carolina
a) Identify appropriate campus resources and opportunities that contribute to their educational experience, goals, and campus engagement.
III. Prepare Students for Responsible Lives in a Diverse, Interconnected, and Changing World
c) Describe and demonstrate principles of responsible citizenship within and
beyond the campus community.
d) Describe processes, strategies, and resources, and explain the implications of
their decisions, related to their overall wellness.
As a result of the Campus Safety and Security presentation students will:
- Know several ways to contact law enforcement in the event of an emergency.
- Be aware of various crimes that occur on and off campus and know ways to protect themselves and their property.
- Know the various shuttle and escort options available to assist students in getting around safely on campus and in the surrounding areas.
Program Description
The Campus Safety and Security Presentation is presented by a member of the USC Police Department. The presentation consists of a power point presentation which covers many important aspects of campus safety including law enforcement and safety on campus, shuttle services, problems such as alcohol and drugs, and how to protect yourself and your belongings on campus. All presentations will take place in the Russell House Room 305.
