A block of rooms has been reserved at Hyatt Regency New Orleans at a special rate of $239 single/double occupancy plus tax. Reservations made by 5 p.m. EST on January 21, 2025, will qualify for the special rate. After this date and/or the room block is filled, reservations are accepted on a space-available basis and may not be available at the conference rate.

Conference Culture

The Annual Conference on The First-Year Experience is designed to provide educators from every segment of higher education a comfortable, welcoming environment to share innovative ideas, programs, tools, and research critical to the learning, development, and success of first-year college students. The conference aims to promote a comprehensive and engaging community open to a diversity of ideas, in which all delegates are given the opportunity and resources to grow personally and professionally. The conference welcomes graduate and undergraduate students, encouraging them to deepen their knowledge of the academic communities of which they are a part.  

Conference Undergraduate Student Fellowships

The National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition is offering five undergraduate student fellowships that will cover the registration fee for the Annual Conference on The First-Year Experience. Contact the conference staff at fyeconf@mailbox.sc.edu with questions.
