This year, the University of South
Carolina’s annual Convergent
Journalism conference combines the traditional focus on convergent
journalism with studies of health and science communication.
The result is two days packed with research, case studies, and
practical advice for researchers, teachers, and practitioners
across these areas of media studies.
Conference Co-Chairs are USC’s Augie Grant and Andrea
Tanner. More than 45 paper, panel, and abstract submissions have
been reviewed, and the accepted submissions have been assembled
into a program that explores the conference themes.
The School of Journalism and Mass Communications is hosting
a pre-conference reception Sunday, October 10, from 7-9 p.m.
at the Courtyard Hotel. The conference opens at 8:30 am, Monday,
October 11th with a full day of sessions at Newsplex. Monday
ends with our Keynote Speaker (tba). Tuesday features a full
day of sessions at the host hotel. The conference ends Tuesday
evening with the Participatory Plenary roundtable discussion
allowing everyone an opportunity to discuss the issues and research
explored during the conference.
