Scholarship luncheon connects students and donors

The College of Mass Communications and Information Studies Scholarship Luncheon was held October 25 in the Russell House Ballroom. The annual event connects students from the School of Library and Information Science and the School of Journalism and Mass Communications with scholarship donors.

Speakers included Charles Bierbauer, dean of the college; Dr. Michael Amiridis, USC provost; Jayla Parks, recipient of the Lenora Price Bicentennial Fellowship; and Erin Shaw, recipient of the George A. Buchanan and Charlotte Buchanan LeGrand Memorial Scholarship.

Erin Shaw, a senior journalism student, said, "I can't say how motivating it is that there are USC alumni that believe in me and support me studying something that I've come to love so passionately. It makes me want to work even harder."

The luncheon was a time for the college and recipients to say thank you to the donors that contribute to scholarships.

"I would like to thank Mr. Leonard Price for giving me the opportunity to attend USC with his fellowship. Without it, I don't know where I would be," said Jayla Parks, graduate student in the School of Library and Information Science.
