Terry
Dixon is director of development for the College of Mass Communications
and Information Studies and has been with the college since March
2007.
Dixon is responsible for seeking major gifts for the College's
School of Journalism and Mass Communications and its School of
Library and Information Science. The college's immediate priorities
include:
Cocky’s Reading Express, a literacy outreach collaboration
between the School of Library and Information Studies, the SC
Center for Children’s Books and Literacy and the USC Student
Government.
The SJMC Building Initiative, a capital campaign to relocate
the School of Journalism and Mass Communications to its future
home at the corner of Sumter and Greene.
Student Scholarships and Fellowships, endowed and non-endowed
gifts that support the academic pursuits of undergraduate and
graduate students.
Dixon received a B.A. in Communications from Winthrop University
and a M.Ed. in Educational Administration from USC. She has 18
years of combined experience in fund- raising, marketing, recruiting
and career development in the fields of higher education and
healthcare. Dixon was previously on the university staff from
1993 to 1998 and with an area hospital foundation from 1998 to
2002. In 2003, Dixon relocated to Raleigh where she was a stay-at-home
mother for several years and later worked as an independent contractor
with a university medical foundation managing special events.
Two years ago she returned to Columbia along with her husband
Jimmy and son Jack, now a first-grader. |
