Pathways to USC Columbia

There's more than one way to start your path to the University of South Carolina Columbia.

More than 1,000 students transfer each year to USC Columbia from a South Carolina technical college. Gamecock Gateway is our award-winning residential bridge program with Midlands Technical College, and we also work with hundreds of future transfer students around the state at one of the 16 South Carolina technical colleges in the non-residential USC Bridge Program.

Are you considering another USC system campus? This is a popular path for many future USC Columbia students. After beginning elsewhere in the USC system, you can apply for a change of campus to USC Columbia once you've earned a satisfactory GPA on a least 30 hours of college work. We encourage you to look at all of the many options within the USC system, including comprehensive four-year campuses and Palmetto College campuses.

Gamecock Gateway

Gamecock Gateway is an exciting one-year residential program offered jointly by the University of South Carolina and Midlands Technical College. This invitation-only program provides first-time college students with comprehensive support from both institutions; it offers affordability, access, and the eventual opportunity to enroll at the University of South Carolina. Gamecock Gateway invitations for summer and fall 2017 freshman applicants have already been issued.
