Abstract

Ronald H. Nicholson, a professor of English at Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana, discusses the role first-year writing instruction plays in students’ overall collegiate success and recommends micro-editing exercises as a way to simplify the revising process for struggling, novice, and reluctant writers. Nicholson shares some of the advantages to micro-editing (e.g., it appeals to various learning styles) and offers a step-by-step guide.
