Biomedical Science Student Thomas Cardaci Wins Pair of Awards

Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. program candidate Thomas Cardaci won both the RUSKA Award and the Robert Simmons Micrograph Award at the 2024 Southeast Microscopy Conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee this past week (May 8-10).

Cardaci worked primarily under research mentor Dr. Angela Murphy, along with Dr. Robert Price of the Instrumentation Resource Facility for his microscopy training for these competitions.

Cardaci also holds an F31 research grant that has allowed him to carry out much of this research under primary mentors Dr.'s Norma Frizzel and Kandy Velazquez.
