School of Medicine Columbia faculty member Dr. Patricia Witherspoon has been awarded Constellation Quality Health’s Timothy Llewelyn, MD, Memorial Award, and also the South Carolina Medical Association Physician of the Year Award. Dr. Witherspoon is a clinical associate professor of family and preventive medicine.

The announcement for the Llewelyn Memorial Award noted that Dr. Witherspoon is recognized for her commitment and achievements in women’s health, minority health issues, health disparities, diabetes care, community health and health care advocacy at both the local and national level.
