The Offices of the Vice President for Research and Corporate and Foundation Relations are honored to announce that the University of South Carolina has been invited to apply for the 2027 Impact Grants, specifically Track 1: Research Grant from the Prevent Cancer Foundation.


 


USC can submit up to three applications. Grants will be awarded for two years at $50,000 per year, for a total of $100,000.  


 


Research must be focused on cancers that do NOT have U.S. guideline-recommended screening methods for the general population. Applications must be innovative and demonstrate near-term potential for impact on cancer prevention and early detection. The foundation invites research applications that focus on the following cancer types:



  • Blood (leukemia/lymphoma)

  • Bone

  • Brain (central nervous system)

  • Esophageal

  • Head-and-neck

  • Liver

  • Ovarian

  • Pancreatic

  • Sarcomas (connective-tissue)

  • Stomach (gastric)

  • Uterine

Submission Process

If interested in applying for this limited submission:

Applicants must submit a pre-proposal application packet to Chris Segars at chris.segars@sc.edu by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.  

 

Pre-proposal application packages must be submitted as a single PDF file, and include the following components:

 

    • National Institutes of Health (NIH) bio sketch
    • One-page summary of the proposed research
