The Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation

The Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation (EMF)is a private foundation that funds basic biomedical research throughout the United States. The EMF mission is to support early stage investigators engaged in biomedical research that has the potential to significantly advance the understanding, diagnosis, or treatment of disease.

EMF holds an annual grant competition for early stage investigators; awards are for three years funded at $60,000/year.

EMF only accepts one proposal from an institution per funding cycle. The sponsor deadline is August 1, 2018.

USC may submit one proposal. The Offices of the Vice President for Research and Corporate and Foundation Relations are pleased to coordinate an internal call for that proposal.

The internal deadline for Pre-Proposals is 5:00 pm on Friday, June 15, 2018. Applicants must hold either a MD or PhD, be in the first to fourth year of their tenure track faculty position, and not have current NIH R01 funding.

For the internal deadline, please submit: (1)a one-page lay summary that includes the project’s title (the lay summary is of particular importance for the full submission since the EMF board includes non-scientist members); (2) a two page project description including aims and objectives, and (3)an NIH-formatted biosketch.

Please submit your application as a single-file PDF to Beth Herron(bherron@mailbox.sc.edu) by 5 pm June 15, 2018.

For questions, please contact Beth Herron, Research and Grant Development Office at 777-2885 or a href=bherron@mailbox.sc.edu
