This hands-on immersion program is based on the principles of the lean startup made popular by Steve Blank and Eric Ries. Participants are taught that their ideas are a set of assumptions that need to be tested. You bring the ideas - we provide the framework, ask questions, and hold you accountable.
Industry sponsors introduce their real-world challenges, which need attention and offer their support to prepare the next generation of engineering and computing professionals. Students form teams to combine theory and practice while gaining valuable experience.
Our IdeaLabs facility is the only ready-built leasable wet lab space available in Columbia. We offer our lab facilities at a low-cost to small businesses in South Carolina, whether they're currently affiliated with the university or not.
We connect industry and entrepreneurs in one space through our USC/Columbia Technology Incubator facility. Companies receive free counseling, mentoring, shared resources and a range of other support programs.
