Are there any benefits?

Families will receive between $45 - $200 for their time upon completion of each assessment. The compensation amount depends on the age of the child and the length of the assessment. In addition, we provide you with a written summary of your child's development after each assessment, so you can see your child's developmental progress over time!

Who can participate? And where?

Infants and children with Down syndrome (ages 8 -18 months) and their parents can enroll in this study. If you are interested in enrolling but your child is younger than 8 months old, please reach out anyway for future enrollment! Assessments can take place at your home and we do our best to find times most convenient for your family!

How much time will this take?

Assessments will take about 3-4 hours and occur once every 3-6 months for about 2 years. All assessments involve play-based activities with age-appropriate toys. Breaks are taken whenever needed!

Who is leading this study?

Dr. Liz Will is a Developmental Scientist in the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina. She has over 10 years’ experience working with infants and children with Down syndrome and their families.
