Distinguished faculty and extraordinary learning experiences plus two student-run businesses and seven research centers prepare graduates for successful careers in the hospitality, tourism, retail, sport and entertainment management industries.

Students in Dance Marathon come together to help young patients
USC Dance Marathon is the university’s largest student-run philanthropic organization, raising more than $8 million since its inception 26 years ago. Last year, the organization raised nearly $800,000 to support Prisma Health Children’s Hospital. Student volunteers hope to meet or exceed that goal at this year’s event on Feb. 24 at the Fitness and Wellness Center.

Sam Todd appointed associate vice president and vice provost for Global Affairs
The Office of the Provost has named Sam Todd to a two-year appointment as associate vice president and vice provost for Global Affairs effective Jan. 29.

USC again among nation's best in sport science
The annual Global Ranking of Sport Science Schools and Departments ranks USC No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference and No. 3 in the United States overall. South Carolina has ranked in the Top 5 in every edition of the U.S. sport science rankings, compiled by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, finishing first six times.

HRSM student wants to make fashion more sustainable
Sophia Dudley, a fourth-year fashion merchandising and digital innovations major at USC, has spent her time at the University of South Carolina balancing her responsibilities as a student and owner of SuperThrifty, a multichannel thrift store. SuperThrifty grew from a hobby sparked by her interest in sustainability to a thriving business that has informed what she wants to do in the future.
Real-Life Campus Learning Labs
The college is home to The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation Culinary Laboratory, a culinary teaching facility and demonstration classroom. Hospitality Management students hone skills at the McCutchen House, a student and faculty-managed campus restaurant. Retail management students practice store operations at Gamecock iHub, USC's Apple Authorized Campus Store.
