BMEN senior Elizabeth Moore has been awarded USC's Outstanding Senior award. After graduating she plans to attend the MD/PhD program at Vanderbilt University.

Congratulations, Ryan!

In addition to winning second place in this year's annual IBE meeting in Greenville, SC, with his research about the “Effect of Key Polyphenol Functional Groups on Oligomer Formation in Alzheimer’s Disease”, Ryan Geiser has also won first place for all poster presentations in Natural Sciences at the prestigious Stanford Research Conference, as well as second place for the afternoon poster presentations in Biomedical Sciences at USC's Discovery Day. Way to go!

BME senior Elizabeth Crummy was awarded an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship.  She plans to attend graduate school at the University of Washington, where she will study Neuroscience. We wish you all the best for the future!

BMEN Junior Ryan Geiser has been named a 2016 Goldwater Scholar. Nationally, 257 Goldwater Scholars were selected on the basis of academic merit from a field of over 1,200 mathematics, science, and engineering students. Congratulations, Ryan, what a huge accomplishment!

Congratulations to Hope Holt, Lauren Wolf, and Michael Hendley for winning a SPARC Graduate Research Grant for their projects "Transport of A-beta Across the Blood-Brain Barrier by P-glycoprotein", "RAGE Expresssion and Inflammation with A-beta Exposure in Alzheimer's Disease", and "Resveratrol Scaffolds for Engineering Thermogenic Adipose Tissue", respectively!

Dr. Francis (Frank) Spinale has been appointed as the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education at the School of Medicine. He has simultaneously been appointed as Vice President for research at Palmetto Health and as the Chief Research Officer of the Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group.
