• Search Research Database - Resource for identifying potential faculty research mentors and interesting projects
   
• Need help getting started? - complete this information form and the office will send you information designed for your interest
  
  
• Graduate with Distinction -an optional program of study that gets listed on your transcript. You will actively engage in research, scholarship, and/or performance activities with a faculty mentor in your chosen major.
  
  
• Magellan Explorers -A living-learning community for first and second year students geared toward getting students in research (in ALL disciplines) early in their academic careers.
   
• Search for summer research opportunities - Most are paid positions at other universities or national organizations – opportunities available in most every discipline
   
• Funding Programs
  • Magellan Scholar program - Funds mentored-research experiences; open to all disciplines
  • Magellan Voyager - Funds student travel to present, perform, etc. their own research
  • Mini-Grant - Provides small grants for materials/supplies or travel to conduct research
  • Howard Hughes - Through the College of Arts and Sciences, funds student projects that are biological- or biomedical- related
  • Furman Oncology Research Team - For USC pre-med students; Summer program with Furman students; Clinical research experience at Greenville Hospital.
  • Honors College Fellowships and travel grants - Only for Honors College students; Funds ALL disciplines both for research and scholarly activities and funds travel both to conduct projects and to present projects.
  • South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation (SCAMP) - Funds research activities for minority students in science, technology, engineering, or math disciplines. Contact Mike Perkins or OUR for more information.
  • Library Award - Competition with cash prizes for projects that used library resources. Project must be tied to a USC course, includes independent studies.
  • Search for funding  - additional resources for funding undergraduate research
     
• Mentor award nomination - Have a great mentor? Nominate him or her to receive this USC award in recognition for his/her hard work
   
• Discovery Day - Annual showcase of undergraduate research at USC; all disciplines participate; student winners receive cash prizes
   
• Discover Program - seminar series that provides a foundation to assist students in becoming strong researchers
   
• Join OUR Listserv - Keep updated with opportunities and programs for students interested in and engaged in undergraduate research
   
• Tell Us about Your Research - already involved, tell us about it and we’ll keep you posted on things that might be of interest to you
