Alumni return for May Carolina this weekend

Alumni of the University of South Carolina are invited back to campus May 13 – 16 for the third annual May Carolina Alumni Weekend.

Festivities range from reunions and university tours to lectures and receptions. A complete schedule of events and registration information are available online at Carolina Alumni Association Web site at or by calling 803-777-4111.

Alumni are invited to join their classmates at a Garden Party Reunion at the President’s House, visit Belser Arboretum, tour the Dodie Anderson Athletic Enrichment Learning Center or the new Honors Residence, enjoy a session of cooking with First Lady Patricia Moore-Pastides and explore the digital world of communication with a panel led by Charles Bierbauer, dean of the College of Mass Communications and Information Studies.

Among the featured speakers will be Marco Cavazzoni, vice president and general manager of Boeing Charleston, who will discuss Boeing’s decision to locate its new 787 Dreamliner assembly line in the Palmetto State. Cavazzoni’s talk is one of many events offered by the Darla Moore School of Business.

May Carolina is the bookend to Homecoming, allowing colleges and schools to offer events that a busy fall football weekend doesn’t allow. The weekend is open to alumni from all graduation years. While some events have fees, many require only registration and are free.
