Indiana University Violin Virtuosi to perform at School of Music

The University of South Carolina will host a group of up and coming violinists, the Indiana University Violin Virtuosi Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the School of Music recital hall.

The performance is open to the public.

The violinists, ages 13 – 19, individuals will perform and as an ensemble and include in their repertoire Bach, Brahms, Bartok, Kreisler, Prokofiev, Vivaldi, Shostakovich, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, Telemann and Dinicu-Heifetz. They also will perform contemporary compositions written specially for the ensemble.

Students at the String Academy at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, have appeared in concert at Carnegie Hall, France, Japan, Sweden, Spain and Italy. National Public Radio’s “From the Top” and “Prairie Home Companion” have featured the group on their respective nationwide programs.
