Pamela P. Lackey, president of AT&T South Carolina, has been elected president of the University of South Carolina’s University Associates for 2012-2013.
"USC is one of this country's outstanding research universities and an essential part of South Carolina's future," Lackey said. "I look forward to continuing to work with all the University Associates in supporting this tremendous institution and its dedicated faculty and administrators."
University Associates is a “town and gown” organization of Midlands-area business, community and professional leaders who are committed to supporting and promoting USC. Meetings throughout the year feature addresses by the university president and highlight special programs and activities.
Charles D. “Chuck” Beaman Jr., CEO of Palmetto Health, was tapped to be president-elect; Charles W. “Chuck” Garnett, president and CEO of the National Bank of South Carolina, was elected vice president; and J. Cantey Heath Jr., special assistant to the university president, was elected secretary-treasurer.
