USC to show off spring trends in Fashion Week
The University of South Carolina Fashion Board, in conjunction with the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management, will present USC Fashion Week, Columbia’s premier fashion event, April 11-14.
The week’s events integrate the community, local retail stores, businesses and talent from across the state.
The four-day event gives students real-life experience in the fashion industry to jumpstart their careers in the field.
The week’s events:
Monday, April 11, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Russell House patio — Kick-off event.
Tuesday, April 12, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., Greene Street in front of Russell House and the Darla Moore School of Business patio. -- Bagel breakfast, bake sale and clothing drive benefiting SisterCare, a local organization that gives aid to battered women and children.
Wednesday, April 13, 7 p.m., Public Health Research Building auditorium -- Fashion Symposium, featuring Jess James, creator of Style Swap, a fashion-accesory exchange at which attendees bring an item of clothing and accessory to the event and exchange them for other items.
Thursday, April 14, 6 p.m. - doors open, 7 p.m. - fashion show, 701 Whaley St. -- 2011 USC Fashion Week Fashion Show.
Tickets to the fashion show are $7 in advance and $10 at the event. Beginning at 6 p.m. and during intermission, attendees may browse booths and purchase merchandise from retailers not included in the show.
USC Fashion Week features items from retail stores Bohemian, LaRoque, Brittons, M Boutique, Van Jean, DeLibel Boutique, Handpicked, Just The Thing and designer Laura McCall.
The USC Fashion Board is an organization of students from all majors and backgrounds with a common interest in fashion. The board meets weekly to discuss fashion through history and fashion show reviews and to hear guest speakers from every facet of the industry. The board also plans community outreach projects and events to promote local retail businesses.
