Naturalist to begin ‘Nature of Things’ lecture series

Rudy Mancke, resident naturalist at the University of South Carolina, will kick off his lecture series, “The Nature of Things,” March 22 at 1 p.m. in front of McKissick Museum on the university’s historic Horseshoe.

His first lecture, “The Nature of Spring,” is free and open to the public and will coincide with the vernal equinox. Mancke will talk about the changes that take place in nature during the spring months in this fun and educational program.

Participants are encouraged to bring items -- not live animals -- for Mancke to discuss, as well as bag lunches. The museum will provide beverages.

The series features public lectures and events in conjunction with the vernal and autumnal equinoxes and the summer and winter solstices.
