Palmetto Health, USC to attempt World Record Zumbathon
In celebration of Heart Month, Palmetto Health Heart Hospital, in partnership with the University of South Carolina, is hosting a Zumbathon to break the record for the world’s largest Zumba demonstration class.
The event will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m., at the Strom Thurmond Wellness & Fitness Center, 1000 Blossom Street. The goal is to get 1,200 people to simultaneously participate in Zumba, a popular Latin-inspired, dance-fitness program, for 30 minutes.
The event is free. The only requirements are that participants sign an event waiver and wear a red shirt; for those that don’t have one or don’t bring one to the event, red T-shirts will be on sale for $10. Donations will be accepted for patient services at Palmetto Health Heart Hospital.
There is no age limit to participate; however, childcare will not be provided, and all attendees must be physically able to participate. The suggested age is middle school and older.
