Linguistics researcher to speak Nov. 5 and 6

 

Julia Hirschberg, a linguistics professor at Columbia University, will speak on campus Nov. 5 and 6.

Hirschberg's Nov. 5 talk is entitled, "Modeling Turn-Taking Behavior in Spoken Dialogue Systems." It will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the BA Building, Room 584. This presentation is part of the Center for Digital Humanities Future Knowledge Series and is sponsored by the Center for Digital Humanities, the linguistics program, and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

The Nov. 6 talk is entitled, "Detecting Deception from Speech: Humans vs. Machines." It takes place place at 3:30 p.m. in Sloan College, Room 112. This event is sponsored by the linguistics program.

These events are free and open to the public.
