USC class to host event benefitting Camp Kemo
Students in the University of South Carolina’s College of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management 386 class will host “Sip, Shout and Shag to Benefit Camp Kemo,” a fun-filled event featuring great food and entertainment, Thursday, April 14, at The Armory, 1255 Bluff Road.
The event, from 6-10 p.m. will feature live music, shag lessons and a silent auction. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students and military. Cancer survivors will receive a $5 discount, and children 10 and younger will receive free admission.
Sponsored by the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, Camp Kemo is a one-week summer camp for children battling cancer. The camp gives the children a chance to escape the surroundings of hospitals and medical treatments and have fun with their friends and siblings. While at the camp, children go on various field trips and participate in activities that give them a sense of normalcy.
The camp is free of charge and never turns a child down.
Companies or local organizations can make tax-deductable donations.
