Carolina/Clemson Annual Blood Drive offers good visuals

Carolina students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans are showing their Gamecock spirit by giving blood to meet a community need and help boost their team to victory and earn the coveted bragging rights for the next year. Carolina won last year by 700 donors.

The blood drive offers good visual and story opportunities. Blood donations are under way through 4 p.m. on Friday outside the Colonial Life Arena.

Plan ahead for coverage of Tigerburn on Monday, Nov. 23

Tigerburn, Carolina’s annual pep rally before the rivalry football game, will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, in the grass lot at 743 Greene St., beyond the Colonial Life Arena. One of the most spirited events of the year, Tigerburn offers broadcast and print media excellent visual opportunities for Carolina/Clemson Week. The highlight of the rally is the traditional torching of a Clemson tiger. The tiger, standing nearly 20 feet tall, is designed and built by a team of students under the direction of Dr. Abdel Bayoumi, professor of mechanical engineering.

Tigerburn will feature Cocky and the Gamecock cheerleaders, the pep band, Homecoming Spurs and Struts and Step Show winners, spirited students from the Dance Marathon morale committee and, of course, the tiger.

To coordinate coverage, call Peggy Binette at 803-777-5400.
