Activities

PFF participants choose activities from the Activities Checklist. Participants will select activities and receive points for participation upon completion of the reflection process. Participants must complete at least one activity from each subcategory and are expected to chronicle PFF activities using the Reflection Form.

Participants may propose "other" activities to the PFF Program Manager to count in any given subcategory. Approval is at the discretion of the PFF Program Manager. Activities completed prior to signing up for PFF qualify as long as a Reflection Form is completed.

A list of various PFF-related activities are available each semester. Activities listed contribute to the goals of PFF. Items with a * require mentor reflection as well. Activities may be submitted as they are completed or all together.

Activities Checklist

Reflection

For any activity to count toward the PFF activity total, a PFF participant must complete a Reflection Form and submit it to the PFF Program Manager for review. Reflections should be as detailed as necessary to communicate the application of the activity. Reflections may be turned in one at a time or together, in hard copy or electronically to the PFF Program Manager.

Mentoring

An essential element of the PFF program is providing mentoring opportunities for PFF participants. Faculty and peer mentors initiate interaction geared toward achieving the PFF objectives. PFF students and post-docs participate in at least one experience where they have a mentored teaching experience and also have the option of acting as a mentor to a younger student.

Faculty Mentors are an important part of the PFF experience. PFF applicants must enlist support of a discipline-specific faculty mentor who will commit to completing the mentored teaching activity with their endorsed PFF participant. Faculty will complete a Faculty Mentor Reflection Form in order to document the mentored experience.
