Dr. Abbi Lane Cordova

Dr. Abbi Lane-Cordova

Dr. Lane-Cordova's research is focused on understanding the processes underlying the increased long-term heart disease risk in women who have had certain complications in pregnancy, such as preterm birth, high blood pressure in pregnancy, or preeclampsia.

Marcey Jiles

Marcey Jiles

Marcey is a student in the Exercise Science Master’s program. After completing this degree, she plans to pursue a PhD in Kinesiology and Nutrition. Ultimately, she hopes to become a research professor and study the implementation of nutrition and exercise interventions to combat obesity and other illnesses. Marcey chose to work in the WVHL because her mother suffered pregnancy complications which led to later cardiovascular issues.

Seth Byland

Seth is a graduate student in the Exercise Science Department and his research interests include Women Veterans and the effects of serving in the military on cardiovascular health. He currently services in the Army Reserves and wants to continue his education in the field of exercise science.

Kaitlyn Ramey

Kaitlyn is a master's student studying exercise science. She chose to work in the WVHL because of her interest in women's health. In the future, she hopes to pursue a PhD studying exercise science in women. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, playing any type of sport, and hanging with her dogs.

Lohita Kollipara

Lohita Kollipara

Lohita Kollipara is an ambitious pre-medical student pursuing a Biological Sciences major at UofSC in the Honors College. She hopes to attend medical school and continue her focus on women’s and minority focused health, using her clinical and personal skills that she has gained through the Women’s Vascular Health lab. In her free time she an avid nap-taker, hiker, and enjoys playing the guitar.

Anna Thamasett

Anna is a junior in the Honors College studying Music Performance-Percussion and Chemistry. After graduation, she hopes to attend medical school and focus on women’s health and women’s health research. In her free time, she enjoys reading science fiction, listening to music, and baking.

Chloe Caudell

At the Honors College at UofSC, Chloe studied Public Health and Spanish and graduated May 2020. Chloe is currently in medical school at USC School of Medicine Greenville pursuing a MD degree. She aspires to be a physician who will serve all individuals with cultural competence and understanding to ensure the highest level of care.

Abby Heinichen

Abby Heinichen

Abby graduated from the South Carolina Honors College in May 2020, There, she studied Exercise Science with a minor in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior. Currently, Abby is working in Chattanooga, TN as an emergency room technician in the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger Health System. She plans to attend Physician Assistant school and eventually work in obstetrics and women’s health.

Nicole Hoffner

At UofSC Nicole majored in Exercise Science and minored in Medical Humanities and Spanish before graduating in 2019. Currently, she is working as a tutor and volunteering with the refugee community outside Atlanta while applying to Master’s of Nursing programs.

Catherine O'Byrne

Catherine O'Byrne

During her time at UofSC, Catherine majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minored in English. She graduated in May 2020 and is now a medical student at the University of Florida College of Medicine. She is currently undecided about which specialty she will enter. However, she is partial to Obstetrics and Gynecology to continue using the skills and knowledge she gained in Dr. Lane-Cordova’s lab!

Paige Johnson

Shortly after finishing her MS in Exercise Science in December 2020, Paige began the Physician Assistant Program at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.  She is a lover, helper, and leader that loves to travel to see other cultures outside of the small-town where she grew up.  She believe that hardwork can overcome any obstacle and dreams are meant to come true.

Erin O'Connor

Erin graduated from UofSC in December 2020 with a Bachelor's degree in Public Health.  She plans to attend medical school to become an osteopathic physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. She valued being a member of the Women’s Vsacular Health Lab as we seek to discover more about women and the factors affecting our health.

Deja Linton

Deja majored in exercise science with a psychology minor. She hopes to pursue a career in physical therapy after graduating in December 2020. She's so thankful to have had the opportunity to learn more about women’s and vascular health!

Zoe Rhodes

Zoe graduated with an MS in Exercise Science in May 2021. She hopes to attend PA school in the future.

William Tucker

William is working towards a PhD in molecular biology at the University of Virginia. At UofSC, he majored in biology with chemistry and business administration minors. In his free time, he loves fishing, playing guitar, and hanging out with friends.

Brooke Wilson

At UofSC, Brooke graduated with a BSc in Exercise Science with Honors. In August 2021, she moved to Galway, Ireland for a MA in Rural Futures Planning and Innovation program. Afterwards she plans to attend medical school and become a rural Family Medicine physician with obstetrics training.

Olivia Cancian

Olivia graduated from UofSC in May 2021 with a Bachelor's in Public Health. She hopes to work in health policy and focus on women's health, especially maternity care. In her free time she loves to travel, sew, go to concerts and work out as she works towards her personal training certification.
