The Center for Nursing Leadership at the College of Nursing at the University of South Carolina is pleased to announce a Call for Poster Abstract Submissions for the Annual Leadership Summit. 

Poster Abstract Topics:

  • Leading Change to Improve Organizational or Patient Outcomes       
  • Using Technology in Healthcare
  • Culture of Safety
  • Improving the Quality of Healthcare

Notification of acceptance of poster abstract will be emailed to you ASAP. Guidelines and size requirements, etc., will be sent with notification of acceptance.

The Center for Nursing Leadership's Annual Leadership Summit is held annually, and features state and national speakers discussing current and emerging issues in leadership, nursing, and healthcare. The Summit is a full day conference and includes a graduation and awards ceremony and leadership presentations by the 2018-2019 class of the Amy V. Cockcroft Leadership Fellowship.

The Annual Summit is a full day conference for all nurses: CNOs, Nurse Managers, Deans and Directors, Staff Nurses, Health Educators, Students, and Aspiring Leaders. The Summit includes networking time with colleagues.

Other CNL Events

 Viana McCown Lectureship

Viana McCown was appointed director of nursing at Columbia Hospital and advocated for the advancement of nursing in a four-year program. McCown conducted classes around the state to recruit RNs and encourage them to obtain their bachelor’s degrees. After her retirement in 1957, the Viana McCown Lectureship was established to continue her legacy of leadership throughout the nursing community. This annual event is held in partnership with Alpha Xi Chapter and the Center for Nursing Leadership and is traditionally held in the fall to coincide with USC homecoming.

  • Attendees: Cockcroft and College of Nursing alumni, faculty and students and statewide practicing nurses and nurse leaders

Mary Ann Parsons Lectureship

The Center for Nursing Leadership co-sponsors the Mary Ann Parsons conference held each year with the Sigma Theta Tau, Alpha Xi chapter.
