Service Learning

In an era of globalization and greater worldwide interdependence, examining of global issues and their impact on our lives, on students’ lives and on society has become one of the most important missions for research universities.

Start making a difference now

At the Darla Moore School of Business, a variety of activities and projects are underway to tackle this mission while also providing opportunities in experiential and international service learning for students at the undergraduate level.

What is service learning? It is a form of experiential education that, by design, connects the classroom to organized real-world activities. Integrating service learning into the curriculum encourages students to apply skills and knowledge learned in an academic setting to meet community needs. The Moore School and the University of South Carolina offer students opportunities to engage in challenging and meaningful service learning activities. Recent service learning activities included a Global Business Immersion Camp to Cluj, Romania. Students combined service learning and research in a summer trip to Mexico City and Xalapa, Mexico. Other service learning opportunities can be found through the USC Connect website.
