SOMG Student Kyleigh Connolly

Kyleigh Connolly, Class of 2023

Kyleigh is a third year medical student from Newark, New Jersey. Kyleiigh's research focused on evaluating burnout, stress and fatigue in EMS providers, with the goal of developing educational materials and countermeasures that are personalized to these providers. Her project falls under the department of Biomedical Sciences under her mentor Lauren Fowler Ph.D.

Elias Wheibe, Class of 2024

Elias is a first year medical student from Damascus, Syria. Elias's research focused on characterizing mechanisms of the SARS-CoV virus. His project comes from the department of Biomedical Sciences under his mentor Jennifer Grier, PhD.

Kayla Schilling, Class of 2022

Kayla is a third year medical student from Jacksonville, FL. Kayla discusses how through her research she is able to identify care gaps in the clinical setting and improve procedures, treatments, and education for patients. Her project comes from the department of Pediatric Nuerosurgery under her mentor Chris Troup, MD.

Alex Warren, Class of 2022

Alex is a third year medical student from Rock Hill, SC. Alex discusses his enjoyment of real world applications from the class room to the world of medicine. His research focused on gastrointestinal granular cell tumors and comes from the Pathology department under his mentor Christine Schammel, PhD.

Kurestin Miller, Class of 2022

Kurestin is a third year medical student from Rock Hill, SC. Kurestin discusses the benefits of being involved in research and stepping outside of your comfort zone. Her research focused on enhancing empathy in medical students  and comes from the BIomedical Sciences department under her mentor Ann Blair  Kennedy LMT, BCTMB, DrPH.

Corbin Morris, Class of 2023

Corbin is a second year medical student from Spartanburg, SC. Corbin discusses his role in the evaluation of molecular prognostic platforms for melanoma and how this research will benefit both current and future melanoma patients. This project comes from the Pathology, Surgical Oncology department under mentors Christine Schammel, PhD and Steven Trocha, MD.

Francesca Simeone, Class of 2021

Francesca is a fourth year medical student from Boston, MA. She is currently researching Diagnostic and Therapeutic Management of Musculoskeletal Infections in Pediatric Patients under mentor, David Lazarus, MD from the department of Orthapaedic Surgery.

Tristan Mackey, Class of 2022

Tristan Mackie is a second year medical student from Heath Springs, SC. He is currently researching the Utility of the Ventriculogallbladder Shunt in Pediatric Hydrocephalus: Long Term Outcomes and Complications under mentor Chris Troup, MD from the department of Pediatric Neurosurgery.

Victoria Dillard, Class of 2021

Victoria Dillard is a third year medical student from Dallas, TX. She is currently researching attitudes, beliefs and behaviors of religiosity, spirituality, and cultural competence in the medical profession under mentor Ann Blair Kennedy LMT, BCTMB, DrPH from the department of Biomedical Sciences.

Jessica Edenfiled is a third year medical student and Greenville, SC native. She is currently researching Factors Influencing Discharge Location following Ischemic Stroke under Christine Schammel, PhD, Director, Clinical Research Department of Pathology, Pathology Associates here at UofSC School of Medicine Greenville.
