School of Medicine Greenville

PreMEd Partners Pathway (P3)

In South Carolina, we could see a significant reduction in primary care and specialty physicians in the near future. To address this challenge, the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville envisioned the P3 Program to help combat these shortages that we recognize are partially due to future physicians who are from historically underrepresented backgrounds not having equitable access to resources that are needed for successful preparation for medical school.

Mission

Through the P3 Program, along with other initiatives aimed at creating pathways for diverse student populations, the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville is on track to mirror the varied demographics of South Carolina with a 63% rate of current medical students meeting one or more of our school- defined diversity dimensions* ensuring we are educating physicians who can provide the best possible care for all patients.

Vision

We strive to increase diversity in medicine by expanding the number of future physicians that come from a historically underrepresented background who also have a desire to provide inclusive care for marginalized patient populations. It is our hope that by changing the landscape of those who deliver care in South Carolina to a more inclusive physician workforce, we can in turn holistically improve patient care.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
