Dr. Davit Mrelashvili accepted an appointment with the University of South Carolina
School of Medicine in 2008. He joined the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral
Science after completing an adult neurology residency at Vanderbilt University School
of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee. He also served a transitional year residency at
Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia.
A native of the Republic of Georgia, Dr. Mrelashvili received his medical degree from AIETI Medical School, Tbilisi, Georgia. While completing his education, Dr. Mrelashvili completed a sub-internship in internal medicine, pediatrics and neurosurgery at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia. He also studied public health/medical sociology during a one-year exchange program at the University of Southern Maine, Portland, Maine.
Dr. Mrelashvili's published work includes "Some Key Points In Basic Medical Sciences." He was one of three authors and chief editor of the review book of pre-clinical medical sciences. Though he has broad interests within general neurology, his particular clinical and research interest is in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology.
