Biography

Dr. Brett is the Orlando Benedict Mayer Professor of Medicine, director of the Division of General Internal Medicine, and Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine. Before coming to South Carolina in 1995, he served on the faculties at Washington University (St. Louis), Georgetown University, and Harvard University. Dr. Brett's academic interests include medical ethics, clinical decision-making, preventive medicine, critical review of the medical literature, and health care reform. He is the editor-in-chief of NEJM Journal Watch, a literature-review publication affiliated with the New England Journal of Medicine. with an international readership.
