Kayla Mallett is the Coordinator for the South Carolina Citizens Review Panel with the Children’s Law Center at the University of South Carolina’s School of Law. The purpose of citizens review panels is to evaluate the extent to which the child protection agency fulfills its responsibilities in accordance with the state plan and CAPTA standards. Citizens review panels are federally required and are authorized to examine policies, procedures, and practices of the agency, including the review of case files when appropriate. South Carolina has three panels divided geographically. Prior to becoming the Coordinator for the state panel, Kayla served a member of the Midlands panel for several years.
Kayla has served as Children’s Services Coordinator for Homeless No More and as the Girl Leadership Experience, Partnerships, and Girl Awards Manager with Girls Scouts of South Carolina — Mountains to Midlands. Additionally, she has staffed several national, statewide, and local political campaigns. Kayla has a master’s degree from Columbia College in Organizational Change and Leadership, and a 2015 graduate of Leadership Columbia. She is a certified ACEs master trainer, an auxiliary board member for The Language Buzz, and an honorary member of Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Work.
