As internship director and instructor for the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM), Glenna Gillentine authorizes / supervises approximately 800 HRTM majors in their two required work experiences (practicum and internship) with HRTM's industry partners. Gillentine also serves as faculty advisor for the HRTM student organization, National Society for Minorities in Hospitality.
Gillentine has more than 17 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry as a cruise consultant / trainer and as a travel agent. She has lived in Japan and has traveled extensively throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe.
Gillentine's free time is spent enjoying her three children and five grandchildren. She and her husband, Andy, and brother-in-law, Norman, comprise the barbecue cooking team named Two Docs BBQ where they have competed in the Jack Daniels Invitation Competition. They belong to the S.C. Barbecue Association, the Florida Barbecue Association, Memphis in May, Kansas City Barbecue Association and have judged contests in several states and Washington, D.C. Gillentine is also an avid runner and beach enthusiast.
