What drew you to the field of medicine?
I have always had a childlike wonder to know what was happening inside of me. As a young child, I used to ask my doctor plenty of questions and even researched my own curiosities about the human body, sparking an interest in medicine that did not diminish over the years. After volunteering at my local hospital in high school, I realized that medicine is my true calling, as someone who is passionate about science and service-oriented. One day, I hope to offer the best care possible to patients and their families so that I may truly make a difference in my community and in the world.
What are your plans after attending medical school?
Through my time at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, I hope to explore a variety of clinical specialties and eventually choose one to dedicate my future to, as an aspiring physician. Regardless of whatever specialty I choose, I hope to serve in underserved communities. Providing equitable access to healthcare has always been my passion, and I aim to always pursue that passion, no matter where I go.
