What drew you to the field of medicine?
My commitment to medicine was cemented as I supported my loved ones through their medical treatment, building an appreciation and desire to make a difference for patients through service and research. Medicine combines my curiosity, drive for innovation, and commitment to learning. Volunteering at care homes across three countries has taught me to build connections with people from varying cultures and that compassion and empathy are common threads that bind us. My experience working in hospitals and shadowing physicians has reinforced my desire to succeed in the path I have chosen. I want to build trust with my patients, supporting them through their journeys with hope and healing.
What are your plans after attending medical school?
After completing the Accelerated Undergraduate to M.D. program, I would like to pursue a surgical residency to become a surgical oncologist. As an aspiring physician, I will work to expand medical access and continue my passion for research to combat healthcare disparities. I look forward to exploring all other aspects of the medical field and caring for members of my community.
