The Class

Taught by: Kay Thomas, Ed.D. and Laura Brashears, Ph.D.

This is a 3-credit hour SCHC course that fulfills your Honors Beyond the Classroom, Honors Social/Behavioral Science, or Honors Elective.

Spend your summer on the famous Amalfi coast observing social networks and social capital in Itay. This course is open to any major and offers students a remarkable amount of interest in the concepts of social capital and how we make connections with each other. Italy is the only country that seeks to measure social capital amongst it's citizens so you will both observe and explore the influence of social capital through various academic, cultural and co-curricular activities, while also getting the chance to see various landmarks known throughout history (Pompei, Sistine Chapel, Spanish Steps and much more).  During our stay, we will fly to Sardinia to observe social networks in the company Sardex and how they have survived through the pandemic.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
