Kim Overmier joined the Honors College in 2019 as our Academic Advisor and Service Learning Coordinator. She is currently working on her PhD in Rhetoric and Composition in the English Department here at UofSC. Her ongoing work explores the controversies surrounding refugees and the practice of hospitality. She has also taught a variety of undergraduate classes in English and Speech.

Originally from Cumming, Georgia, Kim moved to South Carolina after earning her master’s degree in Human Communication from Georgia State University and her bachelor’s degree in Communication and Rhetoric from Oglethorpe University. When not studying rhetoric and human rights issues, Kim enjoys running, reading voraciously, and learning how to bake new kinds of desserts.
