Erica Elbery began working at the University of South Carolina in 2005 and joined the Honors College in 2018 to serve as an academic advisor and internship coordinator. In April 2021, Erica began serving as the director of internship programs and remains an academic advisor. Erica has taught a variety of academic courses over the years for University 101 Programs, the Darla Moore School of Business and the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management (HRSM). Her favorite course to teach is Honors University 101.
Prior to joining the Honors College, Erica worked for four years as the internship director for the Department of Retailing (HRSM) and two years as a career development coach/student services manager for the Career Center. She also previously coordinated Campus Recreation’s fitness programs, earning a National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Gold Excellence Award in 2008 for her innovative programming and fitness instructor training model.
Erica is dedicated to professional development and serving the university community. She is a current member of the Cooperative Education and Internship Association (CEIA) and a past member and co-chair for the UofSC Division of Student Affairs Professional Development Team. Over the years she has advised various student organizations and served on numerous university committees.
Originally from Connecticut, Erica is a graduate of the Elon University Honors Program (Bachelor of Arts, Communications) and Illinois State University (Master of Science, Recreation Administration). She and her husband Derek (a UofSC alum) live in West Columbia with their son James.
