Smart Microwave and RF Technology Lab

Our research is conducted at the convergence of novel materials, nano and microwave technology. We study nano patterned ferromagentic thin films and ferroelectric thin films to explore their novel properties in RF and microwave frequencies, frequency and bandwidth adaptive RF and mmwave components are developed for next generation wireless communication systems. We employ state-of-the-art top-down and bottom-up approaches to fabricate those devices and structures. We also investigate novel materials including graphene and other emerging 2D materials and their RF and sensing applications. Our research interests span from the basic study of materials, nanofabrication, to development of novel devices for RF, microwave and biomedical for applications in wireless communications, gas and medical sensing.

August, 2015

Our group has been awarded a NSF grant on South Carolina's wireless communication and airborne networking collaboratory.

July, 2015

Dr. Guoan Wang attended IMWS-AMP 2015 and gave an invited talk.

June, 2015

Our group has been awarded a NSF grant on developing energy harvesting nanorods-enhanced MEMS gas sensors.  

May, 2015

Four papers from our group have been presented in Intermag 2015, Mr. Yongmao Huang and Wei Jiang attended and presented three papers in IMS 2015, Dr. Guoan Wang won the Young Investigator Research Award from the college of CEC and Yujia Peng has been recognized as an outstanding Research Assistant in the department of Electrical Engineering.
